P2NM Term 4 Overview (1)

STEM workshop 👷‍♀️

Many thanks to SSEN Transmission for the wonderful STEM workshop today as part of ‘Our Engineering World.’ This was lead by two graduates from the Environmental and Engineering teams.

We have had such a fantastic afternoon doing a STEM workshop with 2 volunteers from SSE. They told us a bit about their jobs, brought some PPE for the children to try on and had 3 challenges for the children to try. We were really busy using creativity and reflection to create models of transmission towers, models of wind turbines that had to spin in the “wind” and making towers using spaghetti and marshmallows. Everyone worked really hard and made some fantastic creations. Here are some photos…

RSPB Birdwatch

We had a lovely morning today out in Hazlehead Park taking part in the RSPB birdwatch. We spotted quite a few robins, wood pigeons, magpies and crows on our walk into the park. It was a bit more tricky to spot birds in the park but we used our binoculars and identification sheet to help us. We will upload our results to the RSPB website next week and use some of the results to develop our data handling skills.

Thank you so much to all the lovely helpers today, we appreciate your support.

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to another busy and exciting term. It was so wonderful to see everyone back to school today and hear all the exciting news and stories of things you have been getting up to in the holidays.

Please find attached an overview of planned learning for term 3. If there are any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

⭐️Sharing Our Learning⭐️

We were delighted to welcome parents back into school on Tuesday afternoon and into our Primary 2 class. The children were excited to show off their classroom and take part in a range of learning activities with mums and dads. Thank you to everyone who came along. 😊

⭐️Space Mission⭐️

We had an extra special start to our week today with the visit of a mobile planetarium!

The dome was such an amazing experience to gain some understanding of the vastness of the universe. Some of our learning included what makes day and night and where does the sun go at night? We also learnt how the Sun moves across the sky during the day in both summer and winter. We spotted the North Star, the Plough, Orion, Betelgeuse, and Sirius in the night sky and learnt about Greek constellations.

It really felt like we were in space and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Many thanks to Parent Council who funded this workshop. 💫 🌎 🌝
