Hazlehead Referendum

Primary 5 were engaged in a debate with other classes over whether the United Kingdom and Gibraltar should leave the European Union or remain in the European Union.
We had some speeches to open up proceedings followed by a a lively debate and a Question Time styled session. Children were given the opportunity to ask and answer questions on various topics and a great deal of research had been carried out.

It was important that both sides of the argument were voiced. Everyone had the chance to vote on this single issue by filling in their ballot paper.

REMAIN: 70%
LEAVE: 30%

The children have a greater understanding of how the electoral process works and about current issues being discussed in parliament.
